Specialties

Running and Endurance Sports

Power and speed are critical components to success in sport and in the endurance world (and) both are often neglected, but both are vitally important.  With precise planning, our strength and conditioning programing increases both power and speed while decreasing recovery time, reducing injury, and creating a sustainable level of performance.

We focus on eliminating the harmful and unnecessary volume associated with LSD/Oxidative training, while increasing efficiency and intensity.  Every aspect of our program is developed with purpose, and incorporates olympic lifts, powerlifting, gymnastics fundamentals, and is infused with mobility functions. Everything we do focuses on mid-line stabilization and working from inside to out.  Most of the injuries that plague distance athletes (low back pain, IT band pain, knee and foot problems) have been shown to directly correlate with poor lumbo-pelvic strength and stability.

Do not be mislead, our program is not easy.  Less volume (miles beating the pavement, on the bike or in the water) allows more time and focus on skill development (yes running is a SKILL) and increased capacity for intensity based training.  This makes recovery a critical component to our program.  Contrary to popular belief, recovery is where you increase performance, not more training.  With our model, performance improvement is drastically accelerated.  Calculated and purposeful workouts means greater gains with less required recovery.  We provide our athletes with the most innovative aspects of sports science, bio-mechanics, nutrition and sports therapy interventions.

Endurance Programs:

Running mechanics development

Event specific training programs

Post Rehabilitation

After completing their post injury rehabilitation at CORE Physical Therapy, patients have often asked for the recommendation of a facility to continue with and progress their exercise program.   However, it was difficult to endorse a place with any certainty where the patient would be progressed appropriately, monitored for injury prevention, and continued to be challenged so that their goals could be achieved, safely.

With the option for CORE SPI's clients to undergo a functional movement screen (FMS), which identifies faulty movements or places likely to break down and lead to injury, CORE SPI is unparalleled in the ability to successfully follow any type of skilled rehab and segue to a safe strengthening and conditioning program.  Put simply, the FMS is an assessment and grading system that evaluates movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries.

These findings are closely correlated to identifying likely sites of break down and subsequent injury at worst or reduce the benefits of functional training and physical conditioning at best.  With trained physical therapist performing the screen, CORE SPI clients will not be allowed to progress to an activity which could lead to an injury until he or she is able to pass certain functional movements.

With directed and intensity specific interventions, one can correct the functional limitations and asymmetries allowing for a seamless transition to achieving more and progressing safely while allaying fears of re-injury along the way
