Tyler and Shane began noticing a disproportionate increase in the number of athletes getting injured while training. When asked to describe or demonstrate the injury provoking movement, an unsafe and incorrect technique was more usually to blame than just merely “going too heavy” or “overdoing it”. The strength demands for different athletes and even different positions vary greatly. The CORE Sports Performance Institute was created to have specialized and expert instruction on technique coupled with skill specific exercise programming. This has been combined with the biomechanical knowledge and injury treatment experience acquired from 12 years of private physical therapy practice.
During this same time period, Hans became increasingly aware of the direct impact true mobilization has on increased performance in training and on the field. Athletes are told what to eat, how to train, and what to do if they have a sprained ankle. Likewise, athletes should be able to perform basic maintenance to address their stiff shoulders and tight hips (to name a few) to become faster and more powerful.
Conversations began leading to research and the overwhelming response that a program blending strength and speed development with innovative physical therapy was desperately needed for athletes of all ages. After more research and program design CORE Sports Performance Institute was launched. Oklahoma athletes now have access to the most efficient, scientifically based training program and facility in the state
